How Can You Market Your HR Business More Effectively?

How Can You Market Your HR Business More Effectively?

Here are a few tips you can use to help better market your HR business and reach your target audience.

Tip #1: Don’t use too much jargon in your content.

If you're marketing to small business owners that don't currently have an HR department, they aren't going to necessarily care about the HR jargon. You can show your expertise in other ways that are more valuable. For example, provide your audience with some practical tips or strategies they can start implementing themselves with a call to action to reach out to you if they have questions.

Tip #2: Always be consistent with how often you post, your branding, etc.

Consistency can be so difficult, especially when you don't have a solid content strategy plan. Having a strategy is just like having a road map. It tells you exactly where you need to go and what you need to do, which can do wonders for keeping you consistent. You can even set calendar reminders or use social media schedulers to help you with consistency. The important thing here is to find a strategy that works for you and start implementing it.

Tip #3: Write to your audience and what they will find valuable.

Put yourself in your audience's shoes. What do they want to hear about? What is important to them and THEIR business? You can have the best written blog or social media post, but if you aren't writing FOR your audience, you simply aren't going to get the traction you want.

How do you know what your audience wants to read about? Simple. Ask them. Yep. It really is that easy. You can take an educated guess and maybe you’ll be right, but you won’t know for sure unless you ask. I find the polls feature on LinkedIn and Facebook to be a really engaging way to interact with my audience and get valuable information to help guide my content creation.

Tip #4: Show value in your content. Don’t just sell, sell, sell.

While asking for the sale is ABSOLUTELY important, it can't be the only thing you do. This will send your potential customers running (and maybe even screaming) in the other direction. You need to show your VALUE and all you can bring to THEIR organization.

Although I advise you against selling in all of your posts, you can provide a call to action at the end of each one. One of my favorite ways to do this is to direct your audience to your lead magnet. You can say something along the lines of, “if you want to learn more, I’ve created a FREE resource. Here’s the link.”

Tip #5: Start building your email list with a lead magnet.

If you don't already have an email list for your HR business, I can say with confidence are you missing out. Email SELLS. The best place to start with building your email list is with a lead magnet, a free resource in exchange for someone's email.

Lead magnets come in all shapes and sizes. They can be e-books, checklists, templates, and so much more. Think about your audience and what they would find valuable. Or even better, ask them! Use that to guide your decision in which type of lead magnet you want to create.
