Strategies to Help Boost Your Social Media Accounts

Strategies to Help Boost Your Social Media Accounts

Ah, yes, social media. Some people love it. Some people despise it. Regardless of your feelings on it, it's here to stay. Read on for a few strategies to help boost your account.

Understand the Purpose of Social Media

With the exception of LinkedIn and Pinterest, people are not looking have their problems solved or "be sold to" on social media. MOST people are going to social media for entertainment purposes. You need to look at social media as a place where you can build your brand, show off your company mission, vision, and values, and let your followers get to know the face(s) and personality behind the brand. Is it okay to do some direct marketing posts? Yes. Absolutely. BUT, typically, these should not be your only posts.

Know Your Target Market

Knowing your target market is KEY to determining what platforms you need to be present on. If your target market is over 50 years old, Instagram probably isn't the place for you. Do some research to help you narrow down which platforms you need to be on. We also recommend starting small. You don't need to be on 7 social media platforms to start out. Try 1-3 to start. It's best to do a few things really well, then branch out, as opposed to doing several things mediocre.

Post Appropriate Content

This is SO important. What works well for Instagram, (colorful images), won't necessarily perform well on LinkedIn, which has users that tend to prefer blog posts and articles. On the flipside, posting a link to your blog on Instagram isn't necessarily the way to go either. Currently, Instagram will not allow links in posts, only in the bio section of the profile. It's pretty unlikely people will go through all of that trouble to get to the link in your profile. Do your research and try out some different posts. Most of your social media platforms will be able to give you analytics to help you start to see a pattern of what types of posts perform well, and which ones need some tweaking.

Post Consistently

Social media followers like to see consistent content. Does that mean you need to post every day, multiple times a day? NO. In fact, we recommend starting out with just 3 times a week to each of your platforms. This tends to be less overwhelming, but just enough to keep your followers engaged. After you get more comfortable, you can work you way to posting more frequently. The most we recommend is once per day to each of your platforms.
